For the grand finale of This Week in Chiptune, I selected 200 of my favorite chiptune and chip-inspired tracks from a pool of over 7000; my entire collection of singles, albums and compilations that were sourced to create the series. I’ve included some historic and groundbreaking tracks from the chiptune scene, some of these songs stretch back almost a decade. I’ve also include tracks by musicians and producers who’ve taken the chiptune to new heights. There are also some of my personal favorites and mainstay musicians of TWiC. Thank you so much for the last 5 years and two hundred incredible episodes; a special thank you to all my patrons on Patreon for making it possible.
We get a blast from the past from some Chiptuners who were kickin’ it before I was even in the scene! New releases from Coda and Algar, plus we take a look back at the 2013 compilation from MicroCollective, and chiptune EDM by Bitonal Landscape.
A collection of fun dance singles from chiptune artists Zantilla, Tiasu, Toni Leys, El Mobo, Robotprins & Rydmkraft, and Ben Briggs & Voia! Including a new compilation from Forest Label, a Russia / Norway based label who collaborated with Chiptunes = WIN!
We’ll hear the new album from norwegian chiptune musician Kubbi. Music from Keiji Yamagishi (Brave Wave) from Japan, he is the composer from many classic Nintendo soundtracks, like Ninja Gaiden and Tecmo Bowl. We’ll also head to Orlando, Flordia to hear Kawaii 8bit’s Play It Loud: Year One compilation.
New singles from George and Jonathan, Singularity and Derris Kharlan. As for albums, we’ll hear Brick BRKer’s BRKOUT EP, Zantilla’s Cack Salad (yummy, yummy), and Raddons’ In March. We’ll also hear Kubbi’s contribution to The Waveform Generator’s Anti-Chiptune Chiptune compilation.
