Dj Cutman’s groundbreaking podcast This Week in Chiptune streamed live on Twitch from 2013-2017, showcasing the work of hundreds of chiptune musicians and drawing thousands of live viewers.

Years later, a new stream lined dubbed the “Chiptune Eternal Flame”, a continuously broadcast of the video episodes on the Dj Cutman youtube channel. It showcases a randomly selected episode playing in its entirety, with music identified on screen and a bot posting links in the youtube chat.

This Week in Chiptune was beloved by many as it ran through the “golden age” of the online chiptune community. Artists embraced Bandcamp for distribution, meaning music could be easily downloaded and the host could reach out for permission to play all from a centralized location. The scene was thriving with folks using old video game hardware like Gameboys and Amigas, to software trackers like Famitracker and Modtracker.

While Cutman says he has no plans to return to his weekly broadcast, this new stream is the next best thing. Check it out on YouTube.
